Alpha Centauri was an inhabited planetarysystem. Located approximately four light years from Sol, this was a trinary system of three stars – Alpha Centauri A, Alpha Centauri B, and Alpha Centauri C. (TNG: 'The Naked Now' production art)
Multiple realities
(covers information from several alternate timelines) Alpha CentauriTypePlanetsLocationLocation Edit![]()
In 2293, the location of Alpha Centauri in the Milky Way Galaxy was labeled in the star chart 'The Explored Galaxy', which was on display in CaptainJames T. Kirk's quarters aboard the USS Enterprise-A. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, okudagram)
In 2364, the location of Alpha Centauri was named in a star chart of a stellar neighborhood with Sol at the center. This chart was stored in the USS Enterprise-Dlibrary computer. Later that year, the chart was scanned by Outpost 63. (TNG: 'The Naked Now', 'The Last Outpost', production art)
History Edit
When Kirk was captured in 1969 on Earth, and questioned on who he was by Lieutenant ColonelFellini, a member of the US Air Force Air Police at the US 498th Airbase Group, Kirk explained that 'the truth is, I'm a little green man from Alpha Centauri, a beautiful place. You ought to see it.' (TOS: 'Tomorrow is Yesterday')
Between 2078 and 2119, Humans founded an outpost on the planet Alpha Centauri. Among its residents in this formative period was Zefram Cochrane, who moved to the system from Earth after 2069. He left the system circa 2119 for an unknown destination. Prior to 2124, Alpha Centauri City was founded. (TOS: 'Metamorphosis'; TNG: 'The Neutral Zone', display graphic; ENT: 'Future Tense') Alpha Centauri was among the earliest systems to be colonized by Humans in the early space explorations. The other known systems included Terra Nova's system and Vega's system. (ENT: 'Fortunate Son', 'Twilight')
In an alternate timeline, created by Jonathan Archer being infected by interspatial parasites, the Xindi destroy Earth in 2154 and then all other Human settlements, including Mars, Alpha Centauri, and Vega colony. (ENT: 'Twilight')
Prior to the 2260s, the University of Alpha Centauri was founded in this system. (TNG: 'Qpid')
In 2268, Kirk argued in favor of having Sargon and his companions take over the bodies of the crew, and emphasized the benefits that it might possibly have on mankind, he explained, 'they used to say if man could fly, he'd have wings. But he did fly. He discovered he had to. Do you wish that the first Apollo mission hadn't reached the moon or that we hadn't gone on to Mars or the nearest star?' (TOS: 'Return to Tomorrow')
In 2338, Starfleetscience officerGreta Vanderweg was born in the Alpha Centauri system. (DS9: 'Field of Fire')
In the mid-24th century, Dr. Leah Brahms resided in this system. She was a student at the University of Alpha Centauri and graduated from this university with a Bachelor of Science in Subspace Physics, cum laude. (TNG: 'Booby Trap', okudagram)
In 2365, after DoctorKatherine Pulaski was abducted by James Moriarty, Geordi La Forge believed she planned to 'lead Data on a wild goose chase and then recount the story to everyone between here and Alpha Centauri.' (TNG: 'Elementary, Dear Data')
After the Dominion invaded and conquered Betazed in 2374, they were in a position to threaten Vulcan, Andor, Tellar, and Alpha Centauri. (DS9: 'In the Pale Moonlight')
Alternate timelines Edit
In an alternate timeline, the Xindi destroyed all Human outposts they could find, after destroying Earth, including the ones located on Mars, Alpha Centauri and the Vega colony in 2154. (ENT: 'Twilight')
In another alternate timeline caused by the death of Gabriel Bell in 2024, Romulan transmissions were detected in the vicinity of Alpha Centauri in 2371. (DS9: 'Past Tense, Part I')
Appendices EditSee also EditBackground information Edit
According to StarTrek.com and the Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 1, p. 19), Alpha Centauri (Proxima) was located about 4.3 light years from Sol.
According to Star Fleet Technical Manual, the Concordium of Planets, located in the Alpha Centauri system, was a founding member of the United Federation of Planets.
According to The Worlds of the Federation, the seventh planet in the system was the homeworld of a group of Humans, called Centaurians. Evidence was found that they were in fact originally Greeks transplanted to the planet in the 3rd century BC.
The association of Alpha Centauri as the fifth founding member was also referenced in the 'It's Federation Day!' newspaper article, created as background material for Star Trek Generations. According to that article, Alpha Centauri had recently gained its independence. Titus Oleet, who signed the founding document of the Federation, was the system's ambassador.
According to Star Trek: Star Charts (pp. 19, 45, & 56; 'United Federation of Planets IV') and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library' ('Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385'), the Alpha Centauri system, consisting of Alpha Centauri A (a G-class star) and Alpha Centauri B (a K-class star), was located in the Alpha Centauri sector (Sector 002), a region of space in the Beta Quadrant. In 2120, Zefram Cochrane departed from the Alpha Centauri colony on his final voyage. In the 22nd century, this colony was a destination on the Earth trade routes and traded with Earth and Vulcan. Alpha Centauri became a Federation founding member in 2161.
The chart naming stars within twenty light years of Sol was originally drawn by Rick Sternbach for the Star Trek Spaceflight Chronology (p. 77) in the late 1970s. This chart showed Earth commercial and exploration routes after the use of warp drive began. Alpha Centauri was the terminus for two major commercial routes, Epsilon Eridani-Alpha Centauri and Sol-Alpha Centauri.
Alpha Centauri was misspelled as 'Alpha Centuri' in the 'The Explored Galaxy' star chart graphic seen in Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country.
In the real world, in 2012, astronomers announced the discovery of Alpha Centauri Bb. This extrasolar planet, unconfirmed as of 2014, might be a Earth-size terrestrial planet. Attempts to locate other planets in the Alpha Centauri system have been, to date, unsuccessful.
Apocrypha Edit
The novel Articles of the Federation also established that Alpha Centauri was the fifth founding member of the Federation, along with Earth, Vulcan, Andoria, and Tellar.
William Shatner's Mirror Universe Trilogy (Spectre, Dark Victory, and Preserver) suggested that Zefram Cochrane lived on Alpha Centauri IV; likewise, his mirror counterpart lived on the mirror Alpha Centauri IV. Spock and his counterpart compared and contrasted the histories of the two universes and realized that the differences in the naming a lake on the planet (Lake Sloane in the primary universe, Lake Riker in the mirror universe) suggested that first contact may have been the point of divergence between the universes and that the divergence may have been caused by the presence of the Borg and the USS Enterprise-E, a possibility disproved by 'In a Mirror, Darkly'.
According to the PC CD-ROM game Star Trek: 25th Anniversary, the 2160s-era Cochrane-500 Fusion Drive was manufactured on Alpha Centauri. These engines were well made and still in use a century later.
In the FASArole playing game the Alpha Centaurians were the first extraterrestrial civilization Humans encounter. The historic meeting occurred in 2042 when the Earth's United Nations space craft, the UNSS Icarus, utilizing a Bussard collector, arrived in the Alpha Centauri system. In 2048, Zefram Cochrane, an Alpha Centarian, sent his warp drive discovery to Earth. This contrasts with Star Trekcanon material, which establishes that Cochrane was an Earth-born Human.
Like in the FASA game, the Last Unicorn role playing game, and the Decipher RPG, Alpha Centauri was already inhabited by a humanoid species when Terran explorers first ventured there in 2066. The Terrans traded their warp drive technology for Centaurian terraforming technology, to repair Earth's shattered ecosystem in the aftermath of World War III.

Stellaris is absolutely dominating the Steam charts this week, thanks to a strong word of mouth campaign and overwhelmingly positive user reviews, but many players are struggling with the latest strategy game in Paradox Interactive’s catalog. Fortunately, fans have already uncovered dozens of console commands for Stellaris that can quickly turn the tide of any campaign in your favor. They won’t all be useful to most players but some are basically cheat codes for Stellaris .
Granted, not everyone is going to be a fan of these Stellaris cheats. God Mode kind of takes the suspense out of 4X games, or any strategy release for that matter, and removing the need to efficiently manage resources effectively eliminates the biggest struggle in Stellaris . That said, if you’re struggling to keep your head above water, the ability to instantly finish your research projects and/or buildings might be just enough for you to stick with Stellaris until you get the hang of colonizing new star systems.
To open the console in Stellaris , start a new game (or load your current one) and press the Tilde (~) key on your keyboard . Just remember that console commands do not work in Ironman games and you only need to use lowercase letters when entering new commands.
Here are all of the Stellaris cheats uncovered so far:

Be sure to check back with iDigitalTimes.com and follow Scott on Twitter for additional Stellaris coverage throughout 2016 and for however long Paradox supports Stellaris in the months ahead.
As you’d expect from Paradox. they are embracing modding in their new 4X strategy Stellaris, and the community is already getting stuck into enhancing the game further.
The Stellaris Steam Workshop will take time to fill up as modders get used to modding the game, but there are already races to take into galactic combat and a few other mods that might be useful. We’ve been looking through the new additions and these are the ones we think are worth a look right now although there will be plenty more still to come.
We’ll be continually checking out mods and adding them to this list in the weeks ahead so keep checking back or bookmark this page. If you find a mod we’re missing and would highly recommend we check it out, post a note in the comments below and we’ll get to work.
List Updated: 3/4/2018
Dynamic Political Events (2.0)
This mod is designed to make the game feel more alive by adding more event chains to show more of the politics of your space empire.
Downscaled Ships
This mod has been created to fix a few issues with the visuals including ship scale, clipping and other rescaled objects.
Star Trek New Horizons
A hugely popular mod this one, it is Star Trek after all. The aim of this mod is to provide the ultimate Star Trek experience as a total conversion of Stellaris. The scope is vast as it guides players through the Star Trek timeline starting ion the year 2150.
Fallen Empire Expanded
This mod will add new personalities types and attributes. It will “breath more diversity and character into fallen empires”. There can now be up to 10 Fallen Empires in one galaxy and really expands the Fallen Empires systems.
Mass Effect Theme Pack
With Mass Effect Andromeda now releases, perhaps some Mass Effect features in Stellaris is the order of the day. This mod gives the game a Mass Effect theme with portraits, flags, an interface theme change and more.
New Ship Classes & More
This mod adds more ship classes which affect all playable races in the game with the AI also using the new ship classes. There’s a full guide for this one so check that out too.
Always Leviathans +
This mode will make the Leviathans from the Leviathans DLC always spawn in every game. NO need to worry if they will actually turn up or not.
More Tilesets
Self-explanatory this one, this mod adds tilesets and portraits for Gaia and Tomb Worlds.
Tiny Army ViewStar Trek New Horizons Tech Tree Service
“Tinyifies” the army entries in the planet fortifications and army construction lists and to make life easier moves the army attachments box closer to the cursor when you click armies.
Launcher Mod List Fix
A quality of life mod this one that simply fixes the scrollbar in the mod launcher and nakes it double the size.
Star Wars: A Galaxy Divided
Players are transported to the Star Wars universe set in an Old Republic timeline with content and factions from that era. Includes ship sets, names planets from the universe, a static gaslaxy with around 950 star systems and more.
ISBS Living Systems
ISBS stands for Improved Space Battles Standalone and this mod adds civilian vessels into the mix which makes the systems feel more alive.
Improved Space Battles [Balance]
This mod contains gameplay changes designed to balance and encourage massive space battles and can be enhanced with Improved Space Battles [Graphics] (see below)
Improved Space Battles [Graphics]
A standalone graphics portion of ISB and contains mostly cosmetic changes to the game’s weapons. Use with the Improved Space Battles [Balance] to get the full experience.
Civilian Trade
Civilians have set up their own trade routes effectively making the galaxy feel more alive.
No Outpost Influence Maintenance
As the name suggests, the main function of this mod is to remove the Influence maintenance costs from Outposts. It also makes several other changes to Influence, giving boosts through things like rivalries and the Xenophobe trait. Xenophiles, meanwhile, have their alliance influence costs reduced. Should now be compatible with beta version 1.1 of the game.
Expanded War Demands
Want to be able to use the War Demands the Fallen Empires have access to? This mod is what you need. Enables players and AI (with trait-related limitations) to use demands like Humiliate, Abandon Planet and more. Ultimately, the author hopes to expand this mod to add brand new War Demands. It’s possible enable Ironman mode with this mod, but achievements will be disabled.
Playable Robots
This mod adds a “lovable and violent” robot race to the game and comes with its own new Android race category with four playable Android Races, name list, and an android ship type which is still a work in progress.
Playable Invaders
Created by the same mod author as the Robots mod, this one adds the weird “Swarm and the Extradimensional Invaders” to the game. This adds four playable Invader races, an Extradimensional names list, Swarm ship type, Extradimensional ship type and support for auto-generated Swarm/Extradimensional empires.
Flags: Emblems and Backgrounds
A massive expansion of the range of emblems and backgrounds you can use for your species flags. Everything from Blade Runner’s Tyrell Corporation, to the Vatican. Here’s a list. Should be compatible with beta version 1.1 of the game.
National Emblem Pack
Similar to the above, but with a national flavour rather than a pop cultural one. Lots of recognisable emblems to use, like the United Nations, NATO, and individual nations like Wales, the Dutch Lion and so on. No swastikas here; but the author does promise to add a special rainbow-coloured comic sans swastika if enough tedious Space Nazis moan at him in the comments.
The Trump Race
Just to be topical, why not check out the Trump race and you too can “Make Space Great Again”. Utilising The Late Show‘s cartoon Trump, the mod contains a name list using business terms and names, and even ships are named after Republicans he destroyed in the recent elections.
Increased Research Window Size
A handy mod to show up to seven research items at a time.
48 Empire Colors [Ironman Achievement Compatible]
You can never have enough colours. This mod adds 28 additional colours to the base game and allows new combinations of colours.
2D Galaxy
This mod “gets rid of the faux 2D galaxy altogether and makes the galaxy fully 2D”. This may help show which systems are within what borders.
40K: Twilight of the Imperium Mods
There had to be a 40K mod and there’s a collection available including the 40K: Twilight of the Imperium Portraits, 40K: Twilight of the Imperium Music Mod, 40K: Twilight of the Imperium Namelists, and the 40K: Twilight of the Imperium Cosmetic Mod.
Expanded Traits
New traits to make races a little more diverse. There’s everything here from “Natural Sociopaths” to “Frigid”. No doubt more will be added but there’s 14 new ones in the mod so far.
Totalitarian Human Portraits
If you eant to make your human portrtaits look a little more totalitarian, or sinister depending on how you look at it, this mod is for you. The mod replaces the default human portraits and also works in Ironman. The portraits also remain animated.
Star Trek New Horizons ModSol System Expanded
To create a more accurate Solar System, this mod adds moons and Pluto. There’s a lot here but be warned this mod may not be compatible with other mods. In case you were stil wondering, Pluto is not a planet.
Colonize Unlimited©
Colonisation is expanded for mid to late game with the ability to colonise every solid rock planet and make uninhabitable solid planets habitable through terraforming.
These mods should be a good start and we’ll be keeping an eye out for new ones in the weeks ahead. We’ll add any new recommendations to this list over time.
